Doodle Patterns

Oh. Oops!

It’s been a month since I last posted. So much has happened—I have so many photos and stories and fun things to share! But instead I’m just gonna show you some doodle patterns I made. I figure I’ll save all the fun things for when life calms down a bit more.

You can check out more of my pattern work (and bigger photos of them) right here.

Aaaaand one last freebie for you… I can’t stop listening to The Mynabirds. Check it. JAMZ!

Pattern Post // Modified Chevron

Ready for pattern #2? It’s a modified chevron pattern. Chevron patterns seem to be pretty trendy right now (although I think the trend may be dying out) so I wanted to do one that was a little less “chevrony” at first glance. By flipping one of the rows, I created a cutout that ads some dimension. It’ll make your eyes go crazy if you stare at it too long. Best be moving on to the next photo….

I like this pattern because I think it has a lot of potential to easily become several other patterns. It starts to take on a different look just by changing the order of the colors. Magic!

Shortly after I made this, I had my little visit to The Getty Villa and spotted these floor tiles. Coincidence?!…………… probably.

I Made This Pattern For You To Look At

Look it! They’re feathers.

I’ve been really into designing patterns lately. There’s something about finding the point at which an image repeats over and over again that really satisfies something in my OCD nature. I’m starting to gather a little collection of patterns I’ve designed and my goal is to start posting them here somewhat consistently. And when I say its my “goal”, what I really mean is that it’s a “non-goal goal” because I really don’t want to commit to any sort of regular feature post… but if I were… this would be it.

Also, I hope you don’t take my lack of posts as a sign of intentional neglect—rest assured, I’ve wanted nothing more than to sit down and post a slew of pictures that I think are cool and you probably think are boring. There’s been two things holding me back though:

1. A few weeks ago my camera’s card decided to freak out and I lost a ton-o-pictures. A ton-o. I was sad. You’re probably sad too—but don’t fret. We’ll get through this together. Plus, I got a shiny new card…

2. I’ve been portfolio-ing like no one’s business! If you have ever been anywhere near a designer working on his or her portfolio then you know how crazy this time can be. Hours and hours are spent agonizing over which work to show and how to lay everything out… it’s a lot of craziness. But! I’m planning on sending everything to print this week so I’ll have nothing but time to post ridiculous pictures again!!!

Huh? What’s that? Oh… it’s my portfolio calling. Back to it!
